Acne
Acne is the occurrence of red and white pimples on the face due to clogged skin pores. Acne is more common in teens and early adult age, but it can also occur in older adults and even babies.
Acne is more common in adolescents because of the high level of hormonal changes that go on in their bodies. Excess hormonal changes produces more sebum, which instead of allowing the oil to secrete out from the skin pores, hardens and clogs up the pores and glandular canals. This causes pimples, black heads and white heads and overgrowth of yeast, that is normally kept in control in healthy bodies. The blackheads are dried body oils that include dead skin cells. The whiteheads are small white blemishes. Pimples contain pus which is a sign of infection by itself. The clogged pores quickly increase in number causing more pimples to appear on the face.
The clogged skin pores are a result of internal secretion of sebum due to hormonal changes. Poor hygiene is not the cause of acne, but it can make acne worse and cause other infections.
A person with an oily skin is more likely to develop acne. Since everyone's skin is a little different, the occurrence of acne also differs from person to person.
